The first game of the day in the South Boston Business & Industrial/30 & Over Basketball League turned out to be one of the better contests, with Polywood edging Dollar General 50-48 in overtime.

Polywood (4-8) trailed 21-14 at halftime and rallied with the help of four 3-pointers in the second half to tie the game at 47-47 forcing overtime, where it outscored Dollar General 3-1 to win the game.

Dollar General fell to 2-9 with the loss.

Another overtime game saw AWNC II (6-5) defeat AWNC I 44-32 in overtime, with AWNC outscoring AWNC by a 10-2 margin in the extra session.

In other action, Eaton Corporation (9-2) got 33 points from Michael Hatcher in a 57-44 win over Goodyear.

Tvilum/Sentara (11-0) got double-figure scoring from three players and remained unbeaten with a 46-25 win over Presto (3-8), and Benchmark improved to 9-2 with a 56-32 win over ABB.

Eaton Corporation (9-2) got 33 points from Michael Hatcher in a 57-44 win over Goodyear, with AWNC I falling to 6-5 and Goodyear dropping to 1-10.

Hatcher was one of three Players of the Week cited for their performances on Sunday, in addition to Aaron Downy of Polywood and Frankey Jacobs of AWNC II.

Hatcher scored 33 points, including four pointers, eight 3-pointers and was 1-2 from the free throw line in his team’s win over Goodyear, holding the hot shooting hand in the second half with 26 points.

Downy scored 13 points in his team’s overtime win over Dollar General, including six points in the first half and seven points in the second half, while connecting on five 2-point baskets and one 3-pointer.

Jacobs tallied 11 points, including three 2-pointers, and he was 5-8 at the free throw line in his team’s win over AWNC I, including a 5-8 effort from the charity stripe in overtime.
