Multi-discipline consulting firm B&B Consultants officially cut the ribbon at their new, expanded office in South Boston on Friday.

Numerous town and county officials were on-hand to show their support and tour the new office during the open house.

“It’s an exciting day for this company and our employees,” said Jimmy Epps, P. E., president/managing partner for B&B. “We are proud to expand our business and occupy a great location here in South Boston. It’s such a pleasure to have local professionals working for us to provide exceptional services.”

B&B, which offers a full range of civil engineering, structural engineering, surveying and materials testing services, is now located at 706 Hamilton Blvd., site of the former Merita bread store which closed in 2012. Of the 5,800-square-foot facility, B&B utilizes 3,000-square-feet for office space and the other 1,800-square feet serve as the lab and field crew area.

“This new facility has allowed us to expand our engineering department and materials testing capabilities. We’ve added a total of four new employees to this office in the last 18 months,” Epps said.

According to Epps, there are eight full-time employees and three part-time employees, including two licensed professional engineers, one licensed professional land surveyor, three CAD designers, three survey field crewmen, a project inspector and an administrative office specialist.

B&B is currently owned and operated by Epps and Chief Engineering Officer Sam Carroll, P. E. Its founder, Dr. Henry M. Bugg, P. E., L. S. in 1989, established the company in 1984 in Chase City.

B&B relocated its headquarters to South Hill, while maintaining a water and wastewater laboratory in Chase City.

In 2000, B&B first opened their branch office in South Boston. The company employs a total of 32 people and provides professional services in Virginia and North Carolina.

Over the years B&B has continued to expand its service offerings to better meet the needs of its growing client base. Today, B&B’s team approach of utilizing staff engineers, architects, chemists, surveyors and geologists is unique in solving many various problems and developing cost-effective engineering designs.

The design team, with valuable input from its clients, produces engineering designs that are practical, economical and innovative.

“We are proud to be the only locally owned and operated, full-service engineering, surveying and testing firm in South Boston,” Epps said. “We have vested interest in this community, and we believe we can provide our clients an unsurpassed level of accessibility and efficiency.
