Harris, Harvey, Neal & Co.

CPAs Kimberly Priest and John Neal cut the ribbon signifying Harris, Harvey, Neal & Co.’s opening at their new location on Edmunds Street Wednesday alongside coworkers, community leaders and friends.

After leasing space in the security building in downtown South Boston for over two decades, Harris, Harvey, Neal and Co. decided to take their own advice and invest in some equity of their own.

The firm is now located at 523 Edmunds Street in South Boston, and to celebrate the move, the company hosted a ribbon cutting Wednesday followed by a Business After Hours with the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce.

According to CPA John Neal they decided last April they wanted to move, but it took them a while to find a suitable location in the town.

After they found what they were looking for, B&B Consultants served as their architect, and their subcontractors had them ready for business just in time for tax season.

CPA Kimberly Priest said, “B&B Consultants and their subcontractors were absolutely wonderful.”

As they continue their business on this new journey, Neal and Priest said they would like to thank their customers for sticking with them over the years.

Though the firm was first founded in 1951 in Danville, it has grown during the past 67 years of business extending to a four-office regional firm establishing offices also in Chatham, South Boston and Martinsville.

It first came to Halifax in December of 1996, and in October of 1997, the firm acquired the practice of Harold Camp PA of South Boston.

The primary mission of the firm is to provide “outstanding professional accounting services to our clients by performing high quality work in a responsive, efficient and friendly manner.”

Neal believes it is that hard-working manner that has led to the company’s longevity over the years as they work to keep their customer base pleased.

After all, he said, they are the ones who keep them in business by referring others.

Harris, Harvey, Neal & Co., LLP consists of six partners and a total of 17 certified public accountants. The staff includes two professional accountants, many other paraprofessionals and support staff for a total of 34 employees.

The staff is entering into their busiest season, tax season, and they also provide business-consulting, audits, bookkeeping and payroll services.

During tax season, the firm is open Monday-Friday from 8 to 5 and on Saturdays from 8 to 1.

Hours during the off-season are Monday-Thursday from 9 to 5, with the business closed on Fridays.

In addition to the South Boston location, Neal also maintains an office in Danville.
