Effective Aug. 1, current deputy director Deborah Gosney will succeed Gail Moody as executive director of the Southside Planning District Commission, the executive committee announced Friday.

Moody is retiring after 41 years of dedicated service to the Southside Planning District Commission and the local governments throughout Halifax, Brunswick and Mecklenburg counties.

The committee thanks to Moody “for her many valuable contributions to our region.

“We are excited that Ms. Gosney, who has 32 years of experience with the SPDC in a variety of increasingly responsible roles, including funding procurement and program administration, will be leading the organization and guiding efforts to continue its great work,” the committee added.
