The Wendy’s restaurant in South Boston is closing at the end of business on Sunday for renovations expected to take approximately one month.
Store manager Evelyn Powell, who has worked at Wendy’s for all but one year since it opened in 1993, confirmed Thursday Wendy’s would be closing for renovations at the end of business on Sunday.
Powell said she was told renovations would take approximately a month to complete.
Wendy’s, an international fast food restaurant chain founded by the late Dave Thomas in 1969, was ranked in late 2018 as the world’s third largest hamburger fast food chain, with more than 6,000 locations.
Wendy’s is known for its square hamburgers and its signature Frosty.
Another dining destination in South Boston closed at midnight this past Sunday for a complete overhaul.
Sheetz, located at the intersection of Highway 501 and Highway 58 in Riverdale, is being torn down to make way for a new store with expanded space for inside and outside dining.
