Annual Fall Festival to raise funds to support the Clover Volunteer Fire Department!
On behalf of the members of the Clover Volunteer Fire Department, we invite you to the Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, September 14, 2019, in Clover. The day’s events begin at11:00 AM with a parade from Clover General Store to the intersection South Main Street and Mosley Ferry Road. Opening ceremonies will take place on the stage on the grounds of the Clover Volunteer Fire Station at the conclusion of the parade.
Entertainment for the day that includes the sounds of High Grass Band, Forever Blessed, Stain Glass Bluegrass and MoonShine Son There will be inflatables for the kids young and old to play, also. Our turkey shoot for cash will start at 3:30 PM till 5:00 PM.
Our members will be selling chances throughout the day for our GRAND PRIZE drawing. Our GRAND PRIZE this year is $1,000.00 cash with 3 consolation prizes of $250.00 each, and the tickets are just $1.00. The drawing for the Grand Prize and consolation prizes will be held at 7:00 PM. Our raffle tickets are on sale now at these local merchants: Mt. Laurel Grocery, Carol’s Beauty & Barber Shop, and Clover General Store. Tickets will also be on sale at the festival or see members of the department
While these events are taking place, CVFD members will be staffing the grills, as we will have hotdogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bologna burgers, french fries, and cold drinks. Starting at 5:00 PM, we will be serving pork BBQ for supper cooked by Kevin Lindsey. Along with Kevin’s BBQ, our cooks in the kitchen will be busy cooking our famous chicken tenders for those who would like a choice or a combo plate. Your choice of sides include baked beans, slaw, or french fries. Drink and dessert are included with the meal.
In our letter to you last year we reported that we were looking to purchase a new fire truck to replace our 1993 International pumper. We met with various vendors & working of specifications to purchase a commercial 4 door Freightliner chassis with a rescue style body. Our budget was a maximum of $350,000.00 for this project. After the first round of meetings we received preliminary numbers of in the range of $385,000.00 – $437,500.00. After reviewing our options we felt that a new truck was not going to work for us. So with that decision made we began to look either for a stock truck that closely met our needs and on August 8, 2019 we took delivery of a 2019 Freightliner Rosenbauer Rescue Pumper that met most of our needs at a cost of $259,725.00. Our down payment was $25,972.50 and our annual payments for the next 10 years $26,675.00. As you can see, we need to have a successful day, and we are asking you to help us with a donation during our annual fund drive.
