The Cluster Springs Volunteer Fire Department recently held their annual awards ceremony.

Justin Overby was recognized for receiving the firefighter of the year award and the first responder of the year award.

Keenan Cole was recognized as the member of the year.

Daniel Martin received a 10 years of service award and chief’s award.

Pete Anderson received a 10 years of service award and a chief’s award, as well.

Mike Harris received the lifetime member service award.

The Cluster Springs VFD has been busy over the past few months from all sides.

“We continue to serve by answering fire calls, training, fire prevention and community involvement despite the coronavirus. The department ran over 300 emergency calls in 2020. We currently have several fundraisers in different stages of planning,” said Harris, public relations coordinator.

All members are currently selling raffle tickets for $5 each.

Prizes for the raffle tickets include first prize, Citadel Boss 25 Tactical Grey, CB0SS25 12 TG; second prize, Citadel Warthog 2, FWH1220-2; third prize, cornhole boards made by Dale Tillman; fourth prize, a $200 Harley Davidson gift card; and fifth prize, $100 cash prize donated by shield fire safety.

The drawing will be held on May 22 at their Poker Run/Cruise-In.

One of their bigger fundraisers, the ninth annual trail ride, has been scheduled for Sept.18.

In the New Year, they also will be continuing to seek out new members to add to their ranks.

“We would express that anyone interested can stop at the station on the second Thursday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to our business meeting to get more information about joining or contact us through our Facebook page,” said Harris.

“We know 2020 has been a very different year, and hoping that 2021 is a better, safer, healthier and prosperous year for everyone,” he added.
