The Virginia Department of Health reported another case of COVID-19 in Halifax County and three additional deaths in Mecklenburg County in its Wednesday morning update.
Halifax County now has 25 cases of the illness caused by the coronavirus, an increase of one from Tuesday.
Thirteen deaths are attributed to COVID-19 in Mecklenburg County, an increase of three since Tuesday’s report.
Data on the health department’s website is updated by about 9 a.m. each day and reflects preliminary information received by 5 p.m. the previous day. Officials have previously noted a lag in reporting, especially deaths.
Across the state there were 25,431 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday morning representing an increase of 830 from the previous day. In addition, there are 1,315 probable cases meaning a person is showing symptoms of COVID-19 and had contact with someone else who tested positive for the virus.
In Virginia, 927 deaths are blamed on COVID-19.
