A COVID-19 outbreak at The Woodview nursing home in South Boston has widened to 145 cases, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
Brookie Crawford, a spokesperson for the health department, confirmed the count at Woodview on Monday evening.
While three new outbreaks in Southside came to light last week in data from the Virginia Department of Health, it wasn’t until Monday morning the centers were officially named.
The outbreak at Woodview Nursing Home was reported on Oct. 23.
At Berry Hill Health and Rehab Center, there are eight cases linked to an outbreak reported there Wednesday.
The health department defines an outbreak as two or more positive tests in a single setting.
The third outbreak in the Southside Health District is at Meadow View Terrace in Clarksville. The Southside district is an area that includes Halifax, Mecklenburg and Brunswick counties.
Five cases are listed at Meadow View in an outbreak reported on Wednesday. The same facility was one of the first hit in April when the coronavirus started infiltrating Southern Virginia. In that first outbreak there, 84 cases were recorded, and 14 people died.
As of Monday morning, Halifax County’s COVID-19 caseload was 635.
