The Prizery planning to stage ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’

The Prizery will produce the famous Christmas opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors” this Christmas with performances Dec. 13-16.
The opera was first seen Dec. 24, 1951, broadcast live from NBC’s Rockefeller Center studio as the debut performance of the Hallmark Hall of Fame.
The opera is in English and tells the story of the three kings as they journey to visit the Christ child and the adventure that they have along the way.
Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. at The Prizery.
Those interested in auditioning should prepare a piece from the opera. A perusal copy of the music is available at The Prizery at the front desk. More information regarding the dance audition will be forthcoming.
Roles and voice types include:
Amahl: boy soprano
The Mother: soprano or mezzo-soprano
King Kaspar: tenor
King Melchior: baritone
King Balthazar: bass
The Page: bass
Dancing Shepherds: 6
Vocal Ensemble: 8
