The Town of South Boston will host the grand opening for its Farmers Market Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. in downtown South Boston.
The market is celebrating its 25th year of operation since 1987, according to Tamyra Vest, executive director of Destination Downtown South Boston.
“The public is invited to come enjoy refreshments, music and as always, lots of home grown and homemade goodies,” Vest said.
The Virginia Cooperative Extension will be on hand with the Master Gardeners offering a help desk and food demonstrations.
The Bluegrass Five are set to perform from 9 to 10 a.m.
The market will stay open until farmers sell out of homegrown tomatoes, string beans, squash, cucumbers, onions, cabbage, beets, new potatoes, baked goods, vegetable plants and flowers, Vest said.
The Farmers Market is open six days a week.
