Fire destroyed a single-story log home on Mountain Road Thursday evening.
Halifax Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call shortly after 7 p.m. and found the residential structure fully involved when they arrived at the scene, a fire department spokesman said.
The fire, of undetermined origin, resulted in about a $40,000 loss to the house that Lawrence and Amble Hubbard occupied and is owned by the Logan Estate, the spokesman said.
No one was injured, but firemen stayed on the scene for about three hours.
Assisting Halifax VFD who responded with four trucks and 20 volunteers were one truck and 13 firefighters from South Boston Fire Department, two trucks and 10
volunteers from Liberty VFD, and one truck and six volunteers from Oak Level VFD.
Halifax firefighters were called back to the residence Friday morning around 9:15 after the fire rekindled on the backside of the house, the spokesman said.
Halifax responded with three trucks and six volunteers and were assisted by 10 volunteers from other county departments, he added.
The Halifax County Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family who lost everything in the fire.
