Halifax County Public Schools reported 21 incidents of bullying during the 2010-2011 school year, according to the Virginia Annual Report on discipline, crime and violence.
The Virginia Department of Education released the annual report in March with statistics of all school divisions in Virginia.
Halifax County Public Schools had 527 reports of classroom disruptions, 11 drug violations, one report of gang activity, seven reports of harassment and 68 altercations. They also reported 12 offensive sexual touching incidents, 11 reports of other weapons and explosive devices, four reports of possession of razor blades, box cutters, 16 reports of theft, 18 threats and three reports of vandalism.
Neighboring counties, Mecklenburg and Charlotte, reported incidents of bullying as well.
Mecklenburg had the most incidents reported in Region VIII with 101, and Charlotte had only three incidents.
Charlotte County had 35 altercations reported, nine reports of drug violations, one report of gang activity, one school threat, two reports of sexual offenses, seven reports of theft, three reports of threats and one report of vandalism.
Mecklenburg County had 46 altercations reported, 277 reports of classroom disruptions, 10 reports of drug violations, one report of harassment, three reports of inappropriate personal property, three reports of offensive sexual touching, 15 reports of other weapons and explosive devices, two reports of possession/use/sale/distribution of over-counter medicine, one report of sexual harassment, one report of sexual offenses, 23 reports of theft, 117 reports of threats, five reports of trespassing and 11 reports of vandalism.
