An unknown driver driving a stolen vehicle fled the scene following an accident that occurred Monday morning on Huell Matthews Highway, one-tenth of a mile north of Bill Tuck Highway.
According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Officer C. M. Mann, the driver was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor when it ran off the road way and struck and broke off a utility pole belonging to Century Link.
The vehicle, registered to Katina Gregory of Buffalo Junction, earlier had been reported stolen.
Mann estimated damage to the Century Link pole at $1,500 and damage to the Mitsubishi at $8,000.
An 83-year-old South Boston man was not injured in a wreck involving a deer that occurred May 8 on State Route 654, two miles south of Route 360.
According to an accident report filed by State Trooper D. T. Spencer, Bennie Carlton was driving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when a deer jumped into the window of his vehicle.
Carlton was not injured and was not charged.
Spencer estimated damage to the vehicle at $2,500.
• A 72-year-old Halifax woman was charged with reckless driving/ failure to maintain proper control following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred May 9 on State Route 613, 250 feet west of Highway 360.
According to an accident report filed by Spencer, Shirley H. Lewis was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile when she ran off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.
Spencer estimated damage to the Oldsmobile at $2,500.
• A 29-year-old Nathalie man was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right of center following a wreck that occurred Friday evening on State Route 748, two tenths of a mile east of State Route 603.
According to an accident report filed by State Trooper D. H. Hess, Harry Paul Womack was driving a 1999 Ford Contour when he failed to maintain his lane of travel striking a 1994 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck pulling a trailer driven by 40-year-old Henry H. Boyd of Nathalie.
Both the truck and trailer sustained damage, according to the report.
Womack was injured and transported by emergency personnel, and his passenger, 19-year-old Justin Adkins, sustained minor injuries but was not transported.
Boyd had no injuries but was transported by emergency personnel, and his passenger, 53-year-old Gary L. Howard, sustained injuries and was transported by emergency personnel.
Hess estimated damage to both the Contour and the Chevrolet at $2,500 each.
• A 31-year-old South Boston woman was charged with driver inattention following a wreck that occurred Monday afternoon on North Main Street, one-tenth of a mile north of Meadow Drive.
According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Cpl. S. L. Song, Tiffaney A. Jackson was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta north on North Main Street when she struck a parked 2006 Ford Taurus.
No one was injured, according to the report.
Song estimated damage to both the Volkswagen and the Ford at $1,500.
