A Sunday afternoon fire damaged a single-story vinyl-sided frame house located at 1726 Norwood Ave. in South Boston.
According to South Boston Fire Chief Steve Phillips, South Boston Fire Department responded with four trucks and Halifax Volunteer Fire Department responded with two trucks to the report of a house on fire around 2:30 p.m.
Phillips said no one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured in the blaze.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke was billowing out from the house.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, Phillips said Sunday afternoon.
No damage estimate was available, and Phillips was unable to identify the owner of the home as of press time Sunday evening.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but crews remained on the scene cleaning up and investigating the fire’s cause.
Further details were unavailable Sunday evening.
Also responding to the fire call were South Boston police officers and a Halifax County Rescue Squad EMS crew.
