Pine tree falls on van on Highway 501 on Tuesday

Virginia State Police diverted traffic around L. P. Bailey Memorial Highway at Murphy Grove Road in Halifax Tuesday afternoon after a pine tree fell on top of a van.
Halifax Fire Department volunteers along with rescue squad and EMS personnel responded to the scene to assist occupants of the van. Both lanes of Highway 501 were reopened at 4:30 p.m.
