Mr. Harry Flint Tingen of 1060 Seven Oaks Drive, South Boston died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 68.
He was born in Halifax County on April 14, 1941 to the late Ernest Flint Tingen and Margaret Clark Tingen, who survives, and he was married to Vicky Cundiff Tingen.
Mr. Tingen was a service station owner/operator and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 8 of South Boston.
Mr. Tingen is survived by his wife of the home; his mother of South Boston; two sons, Brent Tingen and wife Ann of Vernon Hill, Stacy Tingen and wife Beth of South Boston; one sister, Catherine T. Whorley and husband Ashby of South Boston; four grandchildren, Brandon Tingen, Maddie Tingen, Ryan Tingen, Chase Tingen; one step-grandchild, Amanda Long; and one niece, Brigette Wucher.
Funeral services for Mr. Tingen were held Sunday, Nov. 29, at 3 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Interment followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family received friends at Brooks Funeral Home Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the home.
