Mr. Raleigh Rudolph Seamster of 3152 T.N. Snow Road, Nathalie died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Danville Regional Medical Center. He was born in Halifax County July 27, 1935 and was 74 years of age. He was the son of the late William Rufus Seamster and Elizabeth S. Seamster and was married to Mamie Harris Seamster, who survives. Mr. Seamster was a member of Ellis Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two sons, Jerry Seamster and friend, Danielle Dawson, of Nathalie, and Bobby Seamster and wife, Beverley, of Scottsburg; one daughter, Sandra A. Wilborn and husband, Wayne, of Nathalie; one daughter-in-law, Marlene Seamster of Crystal Hill; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Seamster and wife, Irene, of Halifax, and Bradley Seamster and wife, Becky, of Kikomo, IN; three sisters, Myrtle Guill of Keysville, Gracie Wilmouth of Drakes Branch and Lillie Seamster of Charlotte Court House.
Two sons, Wayne and Billy Seamster; and one sister, Jean S. Hope, also preceded Mr. Seamster in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Ellis Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dib Mills officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at Powell Funeral Home Jan. 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
