On Monday morning, April 9, 2012, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend was called to her heavenly home. She was born Sept. 1, 1949 in Halifax County to the late Jack Womack and Edna Barksdale Womack. At a young age she accepted Christ and joined County Line Baptist where she remained a faithful member until her death. She was formerly employed by Dan River Mills and cleaned homes for many years.
She was joined in holy matrimony for 37 years to the late John David Glass. Selestine leaves to cherish a devoted son, Christopher Glass of Ringgold; two grandchildren, whom she truly adored, Shemeara and Temera Glass of Sutherlin; one god-daughter, Major Kim Stone of Arlington; one sister, Janice (Bryant) Dunkley of South Boston; three brothers, David, Wayne, and Wilburt of Washington, D.C.; two aunts, Selestine Powell of Nathalie and Catherine Logan of Newport News; her mother-in-law, Thelma Glass of Java; five brothers-in-law, Herman (Daisy), George (Linda), Garland (Louise), Joe (Rosa), Grover (Margaret); three sisters-in-law, Mattie Sue, Yolanda, and JoAnn (Sherman); a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. To include devoted friends, Bernice Stone, Linda Glass, Shirley Wimbush, Joan Brown, Eunice Slayton, Christy Stone, Sheree Glass, and Hazel Coleman. Her siblings, Linda Gayle, Catherine, Eddie Louis, Ivory Wallace, Malcolm, Jack, Randy, and Quentin Earl, also preceded Mrs. Glass in death.
Services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012, at County Line Baptist Church, located at 10151 Chatham Road, Vernon Hill, VA. 24597.
Viewing will be from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
