Douglas Warren Bane, husband of Ruth Dye Bane of 2148 Cherry Hill Church Road in South Boston departed this life, peacefully, at his home on Thursday, April 12, 2012.
He was the son of the late Ira Aubrey Bane and Gertrude Oakes Bane. He was born in Clover, Jan. 11, 1953 and was 59 years old.
He was a member of Rodgers Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the Hyco Road Ruritan Club. Although he was not a member of Cherry Hill United Methodist Church, he helped with many fundraisers the church held.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; by his brother, Ira Aubrey Bane Jr. of Clover and his sister, Elizabeth (Liz) Bane Saunders, and her husband, Jim, of Petersburg.
Warren had two sons, Toby Payne and wife Tara of South Boston and Daniel Payne of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Emma Grace, Allison (Kricket) and William (Will) Payne, all of South Boston; a special nephew, Danny Parks of Baltimore, Md.; three sister-in-laws, Linda Deere (Dani) and Dana Shelton of Baltimore, Md. and Nancy Eckert (Bill) of South Boston.
A memorial service was held at Cherry Hill United Methodist Church Sunday, April 15, 2012, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Barbara Parker officiating. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home. A private burial will be held later.
