Mrs. Alice Marie White Ferrell of 705 Lincoln Drive, South Boston died Monday, April 23, at her residence at the age of 84.
Mrs. Ferrell was born in Halifax County on Nov. 8, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Mr. Alexander White and Mrs. Mollie Edmonds White. She was married to the late Mr. Lin Ferrell and was a member of St. Paul CME Church.
Mrs. Ferrell is survived by three sons, Mr. Ronnie Ferrell and wife Felicia of Upper Marlboro, Md., Mr. Eddie Ferrell and Mr. Larry Ferrell and wife Shenita, all of South Boston; four daughters, Ms. Nancy Ferrell, Mrs. Diana Fallen and husband Jesse, Mrs. Rosa Brooks and husband Bernard and Ms. Sheryl Ferrell, all of South Boston; 30 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; her sons-in-law, Mr. Sammy Smith and Mr. Larry Guthrie; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Ferrell; one brother-in-law, Mr. Percy Ferrell and wife Gloria of Roxboro, N.C.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Emma Ray of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Thelma White of Harlem, N.Y. and Mrs. Rosa Edmonds of South Boston; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, one daughter, Mrs. Bettie Lou Smith; one son, Mr. James Ferrell; and seven brothers, also preceded Mrs. Ferrell in death.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul CME Church with the Rev. George Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
The family is receiving friends at the home.
