Mrs. Geneva Newbill Throckmorton of 2026 Easley Crossing Trail, Scottsburg died May 4, 2012 at Berry Hill Nursing Home.
She was born in Halifax County, on Aug. 10, 1918 and was 93 years old. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and the late Etta Snead Newbill and was married to the late Hodges T. Throckmorton Sr.
Mrs. Throckmorton was a member of Scottsburg Baptist Church, a homemaker and a devoted mother.
Mrs. Geneva N. Throckmorton is survived by four sons, Hodges T. Throckmorton Jr. of Scottsburg, Donald Throckmorton and wife Carol of Scottsburg, Charles Throckmorton and wife Nora Jean of Scottsburg, Harvey Throckmorton and wife Betsy of Scottsburg; one daughter, Remona Murray and husband William of South Boston; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adell Tomkins of Danville and Dorothy Watkins of Richmond.
She was preceded in death by one brother and seven sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Throckmorton were held Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Scottsburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Mahan and the Rev. Aubrey Heath officiating. Burial followed in the Oakland Cemetery in Scottsburg.
Visitation was held Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Powell Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Donald and Carol Throckmorton of Scottsburg.
