Mrs. Joan Odell Leigh Ross of Hunter’s Lane, South Boston died Friday, May 11, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 64.
Mrs. Ross was born in Halifax County on Aug. 29, 1047 to the late Mr. William Hubert Leigh and Mrs. Nicy Powell Leigh. She was married to Mr. Billy Carson Ross and was a member of Whitestone Pentecostal Church in Sutherlin.
Mrs. Joan Odell Leigh Ross is survived by her husband, Mr. Billy C. Ross; two daughters, Mrs. Pamela R. McDaniel and husband Tony of Petersburg and Mrs. Nicy R. McDaniel and husband James of Dumfries; two sons, Mr. B. Cardell Ross of South Boston and Mr. Jay Ross of Roanoke; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte A. Cole and Mrs. Betty J. Dillard, both of South Boston; two brothers, Mr. William Roger Leigh of South Boston and Mr. Ford Leigh of Jonesboro, Ga.; two aunts, Mrs. Mildred Leigh Shiver of Alexandria and Ms. Ruth Leigh of Salisbury, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including the devoted Bishop Madison Copeland, Mrs. Francis Chaney, Mrs. Tessie Rogers and Elder Minerva Fleming.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by one daughter, Ms. Stephanie Ross; and two sisters, Mrs. M. Elaine Leigh-Gold and Ms. Deborah Leigh.
Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Odell Leigh Ross will be Wednesday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Greater Mayfield Apostolic Church with Bishop Madison Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Garden Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1044 Hunter’s Lane, South Boston.
