Mr. Caleb Stevens McCormick of 2180 Huell Matthews Highway, South Boston, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the Veteran’s Care Center in Salem.
He was born in Halifax County Jan. 15, 1924 and was 88 years of age. He was the son of the late Rob McCormick and Lilly Crews McCormick and is survived by his wife, Audrey Pearl Duffer McCormick.
Mr. McCormick was a member of Revelation Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 8.
Mr. Caleb Stevens McCormick is survived by three daughters, Barbara McCormick Brooks and husband Lynn of Smith Mountain Lake, Darlene McCormick Seamon and husband Mitch of Nathalie, Jeannie McCormick Jones and husband Jerry of Concord, N.C.; one son, Jerry Dean McCormick, and wife Ellen of Halifax; one sister, Ella McCormick Womack, of Danville; one brother, Roy McCormick, of Halifax; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A funeral service for Mr. Caleb Stevens McCormick was held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, May 27, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Chris McGee and the Rev. Billy Coghill officiating.
Burial followed in Halifax Memorial Gardens with Military Rites. The family received friends Sunday at Powell Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and other times at his home 2180 Huell Matthews Highway, South Boston.
