Mrs. Nancy Snead Payne St. John of Lynchburg died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at the Centra Hospice House of Lynchburg.
She was born in Rome, Ga. Aug. 3, 1939 and was 73 years old. She was the daughter of the late J. Hugh Payne and Kathleen Snead Stansil Payne and was married to the late Hubert “Hugh” Lee St. John Jr.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lynchburg.
Survivors of Nancy Snead Payne St. John include one daughter, Anne Lee, and husband David of Lynchburg; two sons, David St. John and wife Linda of Williamsburg and Stephen St. John and wife Susanne of Thaxton; two granddaughters, Celeste and Cierra St. John; two grandsons, Dawson and Logan St. John; one great-grandson, Karson St. John; one brother, Thomas “Sam” Mathias, and wife Mary of Georgia; another sister-in-law, Nan Oliver, of Turbeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by a grandson, Hubert “Hugh” Lee.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. at First Crossroads Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Dan Ward conducting the service. The family will receive friends at First Crossroads Baptist on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
