Ms. Serita Cage Carter of Halifax died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 58.
Ms. Carter was born in Halifax County on April 27, 1954 and was the daughter of the late Mr. Addie Lewis Cage and Mrs. Marie Davis Cage.
She was a member of Five Fork Baptist Church and was a former employee of Halifax Regional Hospital. Ms. Carter was also a member of H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Through Positive Experience).
Ms. Serita Cage Carter is survived by two daughters, Ms. Sherita Van Carter of Danville and Ms. Nicola Woody of Halifax; one son, Mr. Otto Von Carter Jr., of Danville; five sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Fulton (Edward) of Danville, Mrs. Cornelia Ross (James) of Halifax, Ms. Hester McPherson of Albany, N.Y., Ms. Annie Riddle and Ms. Rosa Hubbard, both of Newark, N.J.; five brothers, Mr. Robert Palmer (Gwen) of Hillcrest Height, Md., Mr. Douglas Palmer of Virgilina, Mr. Ernest Cage (Bessie) of South Boston, Mr. Earl Cage (Sylvia) of Halifax and Mr. B. W. Cage of Clearview, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings.
Funeral services for Ms. Serita Cage Carter will be Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. at Five Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Moses Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax on Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1008 Ballou Trail in Halifax.
