Mr. James Edward Pannell Jr. of Ball Park Loop, Halifax died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the home of his mother at the age of 60.
Mr. Pannell was born in Halifax County on Nov. 16, 1952 and was the son of Mr. James Pannell Sr. and Mrs. Rosa Tucker Kirby. He was married to Mrs. Virginia Womack Pannell and was a member of Republican Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Pannell is survived by his wife of Danville; one daughter, Ms. Roxann Majors of Halifax; one granddaughter, Ms. Dominique Majors; three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his mother of Halifax; his father of Nathalie; three sisters, Ms. Georgia Lovelace of Halifax, Ms. Janet Gregory and Ms. Linda Berger, both of South Boston; four brothers, Mr. Chester Pannell and Mr. Waverly Pannell, both of South Boston, Mr. Bruce Pannell of Halifax and Mr. Charles Pannell of Brookneal; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Ms. Brenda Pannell and Mr. Walter ‘Red’ Edmunds.
Funeral services for Mr. Pannell will be Sunday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m. at Republican Grove Baptist Church, 1075 Tobacco Road, Nathalie with the Rev. Lorenza S. Otey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening at Jeffress Funeral Home from 4 until 5, and all other times at the home of Mrs. Rosa Kirby, 4225 Mountain Road, Halifax.
