Margaret “Polly” Dawson Reaves of 1100 Cluster Springs Road, South Boston passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Berry Hill Nursing Home at the age of 77.
Mrs. Reaves was born July 25, 1935 in Halifax County to the late Eddie Benford Dawson and Lizzie Zella Francis Dawson. She was married to the late Beverly Averette Reaves Jr.
Mrs. Reaves was a member of Alton Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Tultex.
Margaret “Polly” Dawson Reaves is survived by three sons, Barry D. Reaves and wife Tracey of South Boston, Lester A. Reaves and wife Rhonda of Alton and C.D. Reaves of Alton; one daughter, Karla Reaves Clem and husband Troy of South Boston; three brothers, Bill Dawson of Nathalie, Bob Dawson and Joe Dawson, both of Alton; two sisters, Kitty D. Jones of Oak Level and Mary Ann Throckmorton of Cluster Springs; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Averette Reaves Jr.; her parents, Eddie Benford Dawson and Lizzie Zella Francis Dawson; one sister, Virginia D. Ford; and four brothers, E. B. Dawson, Maynard Dawson, Melvin Dawson and James Dawson.
Funeral services for Margaret “Polly” Dawson Reaves will be held Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Alton Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Ball and Robin Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family received friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the home of Karla and Troy Clem, 10085 Philpott Road, South Boston.
