Mr. Leandrew ‘Skip’ Coleman, formerly of Halifax County, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, in East Orange, N.J. at the age of 63.
Mr. Coleman was born in Halifax County on Aug. 4, 1949 to the late Mr. William R. Coleman and Mrs. Lucy Mitchell Coleman Gears. He was married to Mrs. Henrietta Coleman.
Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Mr. Troy Johnson Sr. of New Jersey; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Ms. Willie Diane Blakey of Vernon Hill; one brother, Mr. Henry Coleman of South Boston; a devoted cousin, Mr. Donald Coleman; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the devoted, Mr. Charles Edward ‘Doc’ Martin. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Mr. Thomas W. Coleman and Mr. Haygood Coleman, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Coleman will be Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax with Minister Vealer Staten officiating. Burial will follow in Spanish Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Ms. Willie Diane Blakey, 11072 Chatham Road, Vernon Hill.
