Lewis Hagood Owen died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Durham Regional Hospital. He was 92 years old. Hagood was born in Halifax County to the late Arnie I. and Sallie Dudley Owen.
He was a 1944 graduate of Duke University, and following that time he proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 71st Chemical Mortar Battalion. Hagood later worked as a chemist for Liggett-Myers Tobacco Co. He was an active and long-time member of Robbins Road Christian Church where he sang in the choir.
He is survived by his sister, Camille D. Owen, of Durham, N.C. and many loving relatives.
Friends may visit Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, 2013, from 10:30 to 11:30 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Chapel at Hall-Wynne with C. Michael Poole presiding. Burial will be held later in the day at 3 p.m. at Crystal Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Crystal Hill.
