Ms. Sheila Lucille Tucker of Radford, and formerly of Halifax County, died Sunday, March 17, at her residence at the age of 55.
She was born in Halifax County on Feb. 5, 1958 to the late Mr. Clarence Tucker Sr. and Mrs. Cora Lee Mosley Tucker. She was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church and served as director of the New River Community Action Head Start Program in Radford.
Ms. Tucker is survived by her goddaughter, Ms. Nakia Ruffin, of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Ms. Bettie Tucker Guy of Halifax, Mrs. Emma Tucker Caison of Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. Shelby Clements of Ardmore, Okla.; two brothers, Mr. Clarence Tucker Jr. of Baltimore, Md. and Mr. Richard Tucker of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandmother, Mrs. Emma Tucker, of Wilmington, Del.; three devoted nieces; three nephews including the devoted Mr. Joseph Tucker whom she thought of as a son; seven aunts; five uncles; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends including her sorority sisters of Swing Phi Swing.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Tucker, was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Linda Jackson.
Funeral services for Ms. Tucker will be Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Ferry Street in South Boston with the Rev. Yvonne Bostick officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence of Ms. Bettie Tucker Guy, 1009 Tucker Road, Halifax.
