Mrs. Lutie Amanda Burgess Pugh of Altavista died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Autumn Care in Altavista. She was born June 26, 1921 in Campbell County the daughter of the late Jesse King Burgess and Martha Ann Mason Burgess. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gibson Pugh.
Mrs. Pugh was a member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy P. Childress of Gretna, Marie P. Tucker and Malcolm of Gretna, and Susan Dale Clay of Holly Hills, Fla.; two brothers, Bill Burgess and Rudy Burgess, both of Altavista; one sister, Nellie Arthur of Wintergarden, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
One sister, Susie Burgess; and one grandson, James W. Stern, also preceded Mrs. Pugh in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pugh will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Powell Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Shelia Bliss, 1013 Berry Hill Road, South Boston.
