Mrs. Lois Gosney Newman of 1033 Comer Lane, South Boston died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the age of 97.
She was born in South Boston on Feb. 9, 1916 to the late Robert Kemper Gosney and the late Lula Power Gosney and was married to the late James Newman.
Mrs. Newman was a charter member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she was a very active member of the Main Street United Methodist Women’s organization.
Several nieces and nephews survive her.
In addition to her husband and parents, brothers Robert Kemper Gosney, George Grayson Gosney and Edward Gosney and sisters Mae Gosney Walden and Inez Gosney Winsted preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Rigg officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service on Saturday.
