Halifax County and Franklin County tied with 313 team totals in the fourth-round regular-season Western Valley District Tournament played Monday at Roanoke Country Club. Patrick Henry High School golfer Elijah Tackett was the medalist with his round of 73, while Cody Spencer led Halifax County with a round of 76.
Dillon Puryear had a round of 78, Peter Gasperini a round of 79, and Tyler Holt a round of 80. Ryan Green and Joey Gasperini each had rounds of 87 for Halifax County.
Patrick Henry had a team total of 317 Monday, while GW-Danville shot a team total of 367. William Fleming had no team score at the match.
The Comets trail defending champion Franklin County by nine shots heading into the final round to be hosted by William Fleming High School Monday in Roanoke.
“I was very pleased with our scores,” said Comets’ coach David Graham.
“A tie for first is not bad, and we played very well as a team.
“I can see we are still making progress, and I still believe we have a chance to win the district of the district tournament.”
