Three Comets make all-state baseball picks

Junior outfielder Ryan Yates leads three members of the Halifax County High School varsity baseball team named to the 2012 VHSCA Group AAA All-State Team announced this week.
Yates was a First Team selection as a designated hitter, while sophomore second baseman Will Harris and senior outfielder William Worley were Honorable Mention selections.
All three were named First Team, All-Northwest Region and First Team, All-Western Valley District for the Comets, who finished the season with a 15-5 record and both the Western Valley District regular season and tournament championships.
Yates, who batted .509 for the year with 18 RBIs, captured another post-season honor this week by being named to the 2012 Virginia Preps AAA All-State Baseball Team as a designated hitter.
