The Halifax County Middle School golf team’s winning streak has expanded to three in a row.
Playing its first home match of the season in front of a good contingent of parents and interested golfers at Green’s Folly Golf Course, the Lions golf team responded well, defeating Ben Franklin Middle School of Rocky Mount 194-214.
Halifax County Middle School golfer Kassidy Irby earned medalist honors for the day, carding a round of 41 in the nine-hole match played on the back nine holes.
Other scores that counted toward the Lions’ team total were a 48 from Lance Chappell, a round of 52 from Willoughby Gasperini and a round of 53 from Jacob Wenzel.
Ben Franklin Middle School counted rounds of 49 from Joseph Mason and Davis Ferguson, a round of 56 from Carson King and a round of 60 from Ryan Miller.
Both teams counted the four best scores from among eight designated players toward the team totals.
The other four players from Halifax County Middle School’s eight designated players and their scores were Erin Glass (55), Cori Neal (56), Ashley Day (62) and Stephen Comer (64).
Khalil Richardson’s round of 53 and rounds of 58 from Brayden Moore and Jillian Waller were the best scores from among seven additional Lions players that played Monday, but who were not among the eight designated players whose scores eligible to be counted toward the team total.
