South Boston Speedway was idle last weekend and will be so again this weekend. However, the roar of racing engines will return to the historic .4-mile asphalt oval on Saturday, May 5 for the running of the WYYD presents USG Night Late Model racing program.

It was a night of first-time winners in twin 75-lap Late Model Stock Car races at South Boston Speedway Saturday night, with Matt Bowling of Ridgeway collecting his first-ever stock car win in the opener and veteran Deac McCaskill of Raleigh, N.C. taking the nightcap, his first win since 2010 at South Boston Speedway.
