This year’s artist line-up at the 39th Annual Virginia Cantaloupe Festival will have everyone off their feet and ready to rock the night away.

First up is Megan Doss. Her sultry country and top 40 covers will have the crowd swaying from 5-5:45 p.m. Doss was nominated in two categories in the 2014 Carolina Music Awards, “Best Country Female” and “Best Female.”

“She is sure to fire up the crowd with covers from Jimmy Buffet, Meghan Trainor, Miranda Lambert, Bruno Mars and more,” said Brandee S. Lloyd, chamber director of membership.

Kameron Marlowe, contestant from Season 15 of The Voice, will take the stage along with full band at 6 p.m. The 21-year-old Kannapolis native made it to the live round of 24 in the singing competition before being eliminated in November of last year.

“His raspy, soulful voice makes it easy to love his rock/country style and will be a great addition to the festival,” Lloyd said.

Headliner, Jim Quick and Coastline, will close out the night.

“Pulling from the threads of Soul, Blues, R&B and Americana, Jim Quick and Coastline weave together their own genre of music known as Swamp Soul. Delivered with precision by front man Jim Quick and his band, this group captures the true, honest spirit of traditions born and bred in the small southern towns of America,” Lloyd added.

The 2019 Virginia Cantaloupe Festival is presented by Halifax County Chamber of Commerce and Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 26, at Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center.

Advanced tickets for the festival are only $35 and may be purchased at the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce, Halifax County-South Boston Visitor Center, URW South Boston and Danville, WAKG or online at www.valopefest.com.
