Trish Owen, a primarily self-taught abstract artist who comes from a creative family, will be the featured artist in the Robert F. Cage Gallery at The Prizery at 3 p.m. Sunday when a free reception and showing will held that is open to the public.

Her artwork will remain on display through December.

A native of South Boston, Owen has been painting since the 1980s when she took what she describes as a “handful of art classes” at Virginia Commonwealth University.

In 2009, Owen began to seriously devote her life to painting. Since then, she has exhibited her work at the community market in Lynchburg, Lynchburg Art Club main gallery on Riverfront Avenue, Galleria d’Arte in South Boston and the Bath County annual art show.

Owen was also a featured artist at the Destination Downtown Gallery in Historic Downtown South Boston.

She paints in her home studio in Lynchburg.
