Berry Hill Resort and Halifax County Little Theatre are busy rehearsing for Friday night’s “Rocky Horror Picture Show” interactive event at Berry Hill Resort.
The actions, the dances, the prop bags, the costumes, the makeup, the snacks and drinks, and the decorations all add up to a fun, adult evening out with friends.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the iconic film. Over the years, the movie started being shown as a midnight special, and people began shouting responses to the characters’ lines on screen and bringing props to use themselves during the movie – throwing confetti, covering their heads with newspapers and shooting water guns as if rain, shining flashlights to see in the dark and other silly things.
Combining all these things adds up to a fun night out, and Berry Hill and HCLT want those attending to have that same experience. So Little Theatre has a cast of the main characters to act out scenes on the sides, prop bags for purchase that couples or friends can share, and Berry Hill will have drinks and snacks for sale.
Little Theatre president Jessica Rose Hayes has been assembling the cast and directing the shenanigans that the shadow cast will do, and the HCLT Board and friends are filling the different roles of costumes, props, makeup, publicity and making prop bags and centerpieces to prepare for the event.
The doors will open at 8:30 and the costume contest is at 9:30 with the movie starting at 10. Masks should be worn for health precautions, and even the cast has special Rocky Horror masks.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling 434-517-7000. The prop bags will be on sale for $10 for those interested.
