John Hardy will perform a one-man adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” at The Prizery’s monthly First Friday event on Dec. 3 in South Boston.

The production, starting at 7 p.m, features Hardy playing more than 40 characters.

The play follows the book scene by scene. Hardy, who never changes costume, distinguishes the characters with variations in accents and speech as well as physical traits. Voices of Tiny Tim and Scrooge come from the same man.

Besides “A Christmas Carol,” Hardy has toured nationally with another one-person play he wrote, “Rattlesnake.”

Hardy says this version of “A Christmas Carol” is appropriate for audiences of any age but is best suited for ages 10 and above.
