Laura Rigsbee Robertson and Ian Quinn Elliott, both formerly of Virgilina, were married at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Oct. 28, 2017.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and reception were held at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Laura is the daughter of Walter and Rosalynde Robertson of Virgilina. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Crowder Robertson Sr. and the late Rev. and Mrs. W. Ralph Jacks.
Quinn is the son of Joel and Nancy Worsley and Dan and Ginny Elliott, of Virgilina. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harry (Butch) Elliott of South Boston and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bremm.
The afternoon ceremony was presided by the Reverend Lisa Yebuah, with Dr. William Weisser as organist. Dr. Beth Cauley, Ms. Grace Sugg and Mrs. Kelly College sang, “Where Love is Found,” and Mrs. Rosalynde Robertson sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Worship participants included Mrs. Senecca Kirkhart of South Boston; Ms. Leila Elliott of Arlington; Ms. Emma Worsley of Richmond; Ms. Hailey Worsley of Fairfax; and Ms. Emily Adams of Arlington. Masters Ethan and Elliott Kirkhart of South Boston served as ushers. Reception greeters were Ms. Kathryn Doll of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Mrs. Erin Clarke of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The bride wore an ivory illusion sweetheart soft A-line gown with multi-layered Chantilly lace applique, sheer tulle three-quarter length sleeves with floating lace and a horsehair sash with a large bow at the natural waistline.
The maid of honor was Ms. Jan Lowery of Whispering Pines, North Carolina. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Kelly College of Raleigh, North Carolina; Mrs. Kaitlin Nobbs of Spokane, Washington; Ms. Emily Robinson of Alexandria; and Dr. Alice Wang of Atlanta, Georgia. The bridesmaids wore sateen twill, empire-waist, sleeveless, floor-length gowns in robin egg blue.
The best man was Mr. Joel Worsley. Groomsmen were Mr. Philip Hudson and Mr. Jared Owen of Virgilina; Mr. Rick Kalb of Aiken, South Carolina; and Mr. Jason Kirkhart of South Boston. The groom and groomsmen wore navy wool suits, with gray and robin egg blue striped silk ties.
The bride and groom are both graduates of Halifax County High School. The bride is a graduate of The College of William and Mary and Vanderbilt University and is employed by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality in Raleigh, North Carolina. The groom is a graduate of Sandhills Community College and is employed by Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, North Carolina.
The couple honeymooned in Kauai and Hawaii, and currently reside in Durham, North Carolina.
