South Boston native John Hall Francis Greenbacker and Shannon Rebecca Twilley of Greensboro, North Carolina were united in marriage on May 15, 2021 at Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
The bride is the daughter of Michael E. and Jeanne Hill Twilley of Greensboro, North Carolina. The groom is the son of John E. Greenbacker Jr. and Sarah Z. Greenbacker of South Boston. The Rev. John Willett of Greensboro, North Carolina officiated.
The initial reception of guests and the rehearsal dinner were held at The Turtle Point Clubhouse, and the wedding and reception were held respectively on the River Course green and the River Course Clubhouse on Kiawah.
The wedding party consisted of maid of honor Meghan Ruddy Fitzgerald of Raleigh, North Carolina, bridesmaids Kathryn Cooke of Baltimore, Maryland, Alexandra Lull, Meredith Bragg, Katie Dalldorf Schuman, and the sister-in-law of the bride Claudia Twilley, all of New York City, New York, the sister-in-law of the groom Lauren-Kelly Greenbacker of Charlotte, North Carolina, and the sister of the groom Dr. Helen C. Greenbacker of Richmond.
The brother of the groom, Robertson W. Greenbacker, of Charlotte, North Carolina served as best man, and his and Lauren-Kelly’s sons, Everett and Simon Greenbacker, were ring bearers.
The groomsmen included William Avera Jr. of Summerville, North Carolina, Samuel Lantor of Raleigh, North Carolina, William Buchanan of Greensboro, Tared Inkidar of Ashville, North Carolina, Evan Kirkland of Ashville, North Carolina, the brother of the bride, Stephen Twilley of New York City, New York, Michael Puryear of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Nathaniel Snead of Reston.
The bride is a graduate of Wake Forest University, and the groom is a graduate of Appalachian State University and the Elon University School of Law. A member of the bars of Virginia and North Carolina, the groom is associated with the law firm of Lorenz and Creed in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
The couple will reside in Southern Pines.
