The Halifax County-South Boston Public Library System has Book Trees in both the Halifax and South Boston libraries this holiday season. The trees are decorated with ornaments featuring the covers of recently purchased books.

Anyone may sponsor a book by taking an ornament off the tree, taking it to the front desk of the library and filling out a short sponsorship form. There is no minimum or recommended amount for a book sponsorship. The sponsor gets to keep the ornament, and a book plate will be placed in the sponsored book, listing the name of the sponsor.

The library is also holding a present raffle at both locations. A number of books in new condition have been wrapped up in two large boxes, with a box being placed at each library. Entries for the raffle are $1 each with no limit on the number of entries per person.

Winners will be drawn on Dec. 20.

Proceeds from both of these fundraising projects will go towards the purchase of new books and computers for the library.
