Florence Avenue Baptist Church

Florence Avenue Baptist Church recently recognized EMT/paramedics, firefighters and police officers in a special service to express their appreciation for their service to communities. They put their lives on the line every day to keep people safe. Never will these men and women who gave their lives be forgotten, nor will many others who risked their lives on that day 18 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001. Participating in the recognition are (from left) Rickie Compton, Halifax County deputy; Field Cross, county canine handler; Chad Lloyd, North Carolina state trooper; Terri Murray, Virgilina Fire Department firefighter; and Ralph Murray, Virgilina Fire Department firefighter; (second row from left) Fred Clark, Halifax County sheriff; and Lacy Morris, retired North Carolina state trooper; (third row from left) Kirk Elliott, Virgilina volunteer firefighter; Brindell Wilkins, Granville County sheriff; Mark Harrison, Granville County deputy; and Gerald Ellixson, Virgilina fire chief.
