Big changes are in store for Virginia Cantaloupe Festival attendees in 2019, but they are sure to excite the tastebuds.
New layout, food trucks and a new stage are just a few examples of what people can expect to see.
Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center once again will host festival goers on the front lawn.
The purchase of the $35 ticket includes admission, domestic beverages, wine and ritas, music, local roasted corn and sweet cantaloupes. The cantaloupe and corn are grown in Halifax County by Reese’s Farm, and through a partnership with Halifax County Farm Bureau will be available during the festival at the signature food sponsor, D&D Skins tent location.
“Food trucks really give our guests more options and will help cut down on the long lines we saw in 2018. I’m excited to see the variety and look forward to trying several items from different food trucks,” said Virginia Cantaloupe Festival committee member Lauren Tetterton.
The current lineup includes Get Buffaloed, The Happy Heifer, Nana Karen’s, Smok’n Butts BBQ, The Taco Wagon and Wooded’s Pulled Pork Plus. Food trucks will be allowed to serve from 5-9:45 p.m., almost two hours longer than food has been served in the past.
The 2019 Virginia Cantaloupe Festival will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 26.
Advanced tickets for the festival may be purchased at the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce, Halifax County-South Boston Visitor Center, URW South Boston and Danville, WAKG or online at www.valopefest.com.
