The Halifax County Cattleman’s Association had announced the 2021 Halifax County Cattleman’s Scholarship is now accepting applications until April 16.

The group is a nonprofit educational alliance of beef cattle producers in order to advocate on behalf of, promote and develop the future of the beef industry in Halifax County, Virginia, as well as for the greater Virginia beef cattle industry.

With the ever-rising cost of college education, the association is awarding a five $1,000 scholarships. Applications for the scholarship may be found at halifaxcattlemen.com or at the Halifax County Cooperative Extension Office adjacent to the Halifax Public Library.

Applicants must provide information on their educational background, community and agricultural involvement, and write a brief essay on an important issue that is facing agriculture or Southside Virginia.

All applications must be submitted by April 16 to HCCA Scholarship Committee 2090 Green Level Raod, Scottsburg, VA 24589.

“We are honored to announce this scholarship and are looking forward to being able to give back to the next generation of cattlemen, whether they are pursuing a degree in agriculture or not. Lessons learned on the farm can have a long-lasting impact in a multitude of career fields,” said Dustin Francis, a member of the HCCA board of directors.
