The bark of the native white oak is ashy colored and often in vertical rows. This is one of the native woody plants that will be discussed on Oct. 14.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Southside Master Gardener Association will hold three programs at the South Boston-Halifax County Museum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays: Sept. 30, Oct. 7 and Oct. 14.

These programs are free and open to the public but registration is requested and can be made by emailing ask@ssmgs.org or calling the Halifax Extension Office at 434-476-2147, option 0.
