Water testing and education will be offered through Virginia Cooperative Extension in Halifax County this year.

Residents may pick up kits beginning Nov. 16 at the extension office (171 South Main St. in Halifax). Samples need to be dropped off from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Nov. 18.

Participation is voluntary and confidential. Water samples collected by participating homeowners will be analyzed for 14 parameters including bacteria, metals, nitrate and hardness at a cost of $55.

Pre-registration is required by Nov. 13 to participate as kits are limited!

To register, contact the Halifax Extension Office at 434-476-2147.

Payment is due when picking up the kit on Nov. 16 or by appointment. Results will be mailed. A question and answer meeting will be held in person or virtually and announced at a later time.
