Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist to celebrate 150th anniversary

The officers and members of the Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 Brandon Chapel Road, Alton, will celebrate the 150th church anniversary on Saturday and Sunday. 

On Saturday, the previous and current choir members will have a reunion choir concert at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the Rev. Dr. Michael T. Galloway, will deliver the service with the GBC Male Chorus rendering the music. 

At 3 p.m., the guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Darren T. Brandon, pastor-elect of the First Cavalry Baptist Church in Norfolk. 

Dinner will be served between the services. All are invited. 

Galloway is pastor of the church. 

Second pastoral anniversary celebration planned for Sunday

Pastor Stedman Davis of Republican Grove Baptist Church in Nathalie will be celebrating his second pastoral anniversary on Sunday, with guest minister, the Rev. Chanigo Brooks of Lattisville Missionary Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina conducting the 11:15 a.m. service. 

Dinner will be served immediately after the service, and the 3 p.m. service will be conducted by the Rev. Willie Yancey of New Zion Baptist Church accompanied by his choir and congregation.  

Church to celebrate pastor’s 26th anniversary

Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the Rev. Robert S. Wimbish’s 26th anniversary at 3 p.m. on Sunday. 

The Rev. Roger Coleman will preach.

Lunch will be served after morning worship. Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m., and worship will begin at 11 a.m. 

Bible study is at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday. 

Jeter Chapel Baptist Church celebrates 150 Years

Jeter Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate its 150th church anniversary on Sunday.

Dr. W. E. Purvis will be host pastor for the 11:30 a.m. service. The Rev. Luther Barnes, a gospel recording artist, will be ministering through songs and preaching at the 4 p.m. service. 

The church is located at 1237 Virgie Cole Road in South Boston.

Rainbow tea planned Saturday

The Halifax County Ushers Union And Vicinity will sponsor its annual scholarship rainbow tea on Saturday at Meadville Center, Highway 57 (also known as Chatham Road) Nathalie. 

The service will begin promptly at 3 p.m. Minister Cephas Faucette from Burlington, North Carolina, and the New Bethel Baptist Church choir and congregation of Halifax will lead the worship experience. 

Member churches are kindly asked to set up their colors at 2 p.m. Clifton Miller is president. 

Arbor Baptist sets homecoming

Arbor Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Pastor Larry Davis will be the speaker.

Special music will be presented. A covered dish luncheon will follow the service. The church is located at 15120 River Road in Sutherlin.
